Wurzen Town Park

The Wurzen Town Park, established in 1879, where the main features of a people's park from the Gründerzeit are still identifiable, is perfect for long, leisurely walks under shady, extended stretches of trees.
The park, in the north of the city, was built in 1879 on 16 hectares of field land and is a place to relax and recover for both grown-ups and little ones alike. Designed by commercial advisor Juel, the park was expanded over the course of four construction periods. The idyllically-situated pond with its fountains and caves attracts many visitors. Well-kept park passageways, with their 18-metre-high extended range of trees and far-reaching green areas, are perfect for leisurely walks. The medieval-looking round tower made of quarry stone with a battlement and small tower atop was erected in 1888. There are two playgrounds for children and a tennis court for sports enthusiasts.
