Zweinaundorfer Park, City Estate Mölkau
Manor house with restaurant and many leisure activities
Mentioned as early as the 14th century, the estate is located on the eastern outskirts of Leipzig. This piece of countryside, which was first designed as a spacious garden between 1730 and 1760, was later converted into an English Park and became one of Leipzig's most popular excursion destinations.
In the Battle of the Nations in 1813, Zweinaundorf and its park were damaged. The manor buildings had to be rebuilt. The manor house was also renovated in 1869. Over time, however, the buildings, parks and stables were not always well maintained. In the GDR era, the site was in a rather sad state. Reunification in 1989 was a turning point. The old path network and the stables were gradually repaired and the manor house was also restored in accordance with historic preservation specifications.
Today, the 21-hectare area is worth visiting any time of the year, thanks to its woodland and meadows, newly laid out ponds, the manor house with restaurant and many leisure facilities and the extensive pet park.
