GRASSIMESSE.
Today's GRASSI Museum for Applied Arts was opened in 1874 as the second German museum of its kind. The building owes its name to the merchant and patron Franz Dominic Grassi. The (new) Grassi Museum, built between 1925 and 1929, with its green courtyards and the park-like Johannisfriedhof cemetery, is a place of inspiration, peace and relaxation in the heart of the city of Leipzig.
The museum accompanies children, young people and adults on their discovery tours through 3.000 years of art and cultural history.
Particularly recommended is the
free media guide, which leads through the three permanent exhibitions. Visitors can put together their own tours, discover the highlights of the collection or go on a rally through the museum. A separate tour is available for children, which takes them through the building in a playful way. The media guide is available in German and English, and there is also a version for blind and visually impaired people and in easy language.
