pedestrian zone
On the south side of the Leipzig market is the Königshaus, whose passage extends the building to include a variety of shops.

The royal house on the market owes its baroque façade to a reconstruction in 1706 and 1707. During the 18th century, the Saxon rulers, especially Augustus the Strong, regularly stayed here during fair times. Personalities such as the Russian Tsar Peter the Great and Napoleon also stayed in the royal house.

In 1932, the Leipzig architect Curt Schiemichen integrated the passage into the building that had been converted into a model exhibition center.
