Kriebstein Castle – Saxony's most beautiful knight's castle

The most beautiful knight's castle in Saxony rises on a steep rock in central Saxony: Kriebstein Castle. Dietrich von Beerwalde had it built over 600 years ago. The monumental residential tower with late medieval bay turrets and the roof turret is the highlight of the castle. Late Gothic wall paintings can be found in the Kriebstein Room and the castle chapel. In the treasure vault, guests can also discover parts of the treasure that was hidden in the chimney until 1986.

Many events such as the medieval festival, the "Fairy Tale Castle", concerts, knights' meals and mysterious tours ensure a unique experience. Film producers also fall for the charm of Kriebstein Castle: It can be seen, for example, in "The Grand Budapest Hotel" and the fairy tale films "Snow White" and "The Sweet Porridge".

Interactive chase for the whole family

At Kriebstein Castle, guests can expect a interactive scavenger hunt through the medieval walls. As a witness to a mysterious clock theft, you can take on the role of the investigator. In groups of two to four, you can puzzle your way from the treasure vault through the various rooms of the castle to the armory. During the 60 to 90 minutes of play, a tablet is always available, while the castle ghost accompanies you through the walls.

app "Experience the Castle Country"  Guests can embark on an interactive multimedia tour. In it, the maid Hermine tells exciting stories and little secrets of the former castle residents.

The Schlösserland app also guarantees a special excursion experience with culinary insider tips, cycling and hiking tours or the best photo spots. The app is available free of charge in Apple App Store or by Google Playstore ready for download.
