Situated on a rocky outcrop in the middle of a nature reserve, Rochsburg, first mentioned in documents around 1190, watches over the Zwickau Mulde valley. As one of the first real castle complexes, the fairytale complex seems to be removed from space and time.
The popular tourist destination has been home to a museum since 1911, which invites visitors to discover the 800-year history of the complex up close. Representative rooms show how people once lived here. In the permanent exhibition "People make clothes" you can marvel at 52 selected examples from 1.000 years of fashion history and also what was once worn underneath.
An exciting programme of events awaits guests of all ages throughout the year. Special concerts, for example, take place in this unique setting (find out more about the BurgenLandKlängeThe castle's small ballroom is also available as a romantic setting for weddings.
Enjoyment is also not neglected at Rochsburg Castle: In the local chocolate factory "Choco Del Sol" visitors can experience Rochsburg's chocolate side. Please note that the opening hours of the chocolate factory differ from those of the castle.
There is a large car park (fees apply) for cars and buses directly in front of the castle. From there you can reach Rochsburg in about five minutes on foot.
