The Old Town Hall is a historic building in Leipzig city centre. This city landmark is located directly on the market square.
The Old Town Hall, built in 1556 and 1557 by Hieronymus Lotter, is one of the outstanding examples of German Renaissance architecture.
Until the beginning of the 20th century, it was the seat of the Leipzig city administration. Since 1909, the building has been home to the City History Museum. The Naschmarkt with the Old Stock Exchange is located at the back and can be reached via a passageway. The entrance to the museum is also in this passageway. The town hall houses a large number of valuable relics of Leipzig's music history, which can be found on a tour of the Leipzig Music Trail.
