Judicial injustice, dictatorship and resistance in the dictatorships: military justice, Soviet special camps, GDR prison and youth prison in Torgau
Thousands of deserters, opponents of the war and members of the resistance from all over Europe were imprisoned in Torgau during the Second World War. The exhibition "Courage and Powerlessness" tells of their personal fates - and of the abuse of justice to enforce the dictatorship. Torgau was the centre of Nazi military justice during the Second World War. After 1945, two Soviet special camps and a GDR prison with a youth detention centre were located here.
Guided tours are available on request from September 2024.
