The gable mill of Schmannewitz was built in 1879. Since 1908, the mill has been owned by the Pfund family. Next to the mill was a bakery. The bread baked here was sold in the town and surrounding villages. In 1924, the mill was fitted with an electronic motor, which made it possible to mill even without wind. Approx. 8,000 x 50 kg of grain, flour and wholemeal were milled in the windmill annually. Since 1960, the mill has been out of operation. Thanks to engaged citizens, the post mill has been retained as a landmark. Those who are interested in learning more can take part in a tour of the windmill.
