The multimedia experience exhibition for adults and children to listen, see, marvel at and play is all about kaolin, the most important raw material for porcelain production. With VR glasses, the kaolin mining process can be understood and a micro telescope can be used to get to the bottom of the chemical element kaolinite.
The tours through the “Kaolin Adventure World” provide information about the geological formation of white clay, kaolin mining in underground and open-cast mining, the history of Europe’s largest narrow-gauge railway network around Mügeln station and other industrial uses of the raw material.
Guided hikes on the “Path to Kaolin” and a bicycle rental service complete the offer. The Döllnitzbahn starts its themed trips with diesel and steam locomotives at the Mügeln narrow-gauge station.
