Gottschedstrasse

  • Pedestrian zone
Gottschedstraße is lined with pubs, restaurants and trendy clubs. There is something for every taste.
The pub district around Gottschedstraße, the so-called "Schauspielviertel", which was named after the writer Johann Christoph Gottsched, came about rather by chance. After the opening of the "Maga Pon" pub and launderette mix in the early 1990s, many trendy bars and clubs settled in the surrounding buildings, most of which were in need of renovation, not far from St. Thomas Church.

There are now also two discotheques in the street. Due to their proximity to Leipzig's theater, the venues quickly became a daily meeting place for a trendy crowd. The outdoor seating invites you to linger, especially in the warmer months of the year.
