The Hof Neubau comprises the inner courtyard including the fountain of a residential building, which is located directly next to the Old Town Hall.
In the middle of a Leipzig residential building in the city centre is the Hof Neubau. The courtyard at the block of flats between Böttcher and Salzgäßchen dates from the GDR period and accommodates not only apartments but also bistros and cafés, and is publicly accessible.
On the outer façade on the side of Katharinenstraße is the illuminated sign for the famous Milchbar Penguin. The logo is a protected architectural feature, as is the small bronze fountain in the inner courtyard dating from 1964. The façade of the four-sided building complex is supported with sandstone, while the railings of the windows are decorated with mosaic panels.
