Jehmlich Organ in St. Marien Cathedral in Wurzen

Short facts

The Jehmlich organ has 48 stops on three consoles at present, as well as 7 transmissions/excerpts.

The oldest predecessor instrument in St. Marien can be traced back to 1503. More instruments of different sizes were seized by 1931/32, and in conjunction with the historicising redevelopment of the interior by the Brother Jemlich Company of Dresden, a new organ was built with electro-pneumatic action and movable console. The exposed pipe front conforms to the design concept of the new interior design. 1998 - 2001/07 a general maintenance of the church was undertaken by the company of Christian Reinhold of Bernsdorf. In this time, the specification was partly changed, i.e extended. The Jehmlich organ has 48 stops on three consoles at present, as well as 7 transmissions/excerpts.
