park/garden
The former monastery garden on the Mulde is now a park with a recreational facility close to the city.

In recent years, the Klosterwiesen have developed into a popular leisure park in Döbeln. Walkers, runners, cyclists, skaters, nature lovers, families with children, sun-seekers, those seeking peace and quiet - they all find their place here without disturbing each other.

The wide, southwest-facing floodplain on the Freiberger Mulde was cultivated as a garden by the nuns of the Döbeln Benedictine monastery in the Middle Ages. Later, military personnel from all political systems had their hands on the site for more than 100 years. After the Bundeswehr withdrew, the city bought back the overgrown land in 1993 with the aim of developing an area for nature-based leisure activities.

After the devastating flood in 2002, the 11 hectare area was redesigned. Numerous bushes, trees and perennials were planted, benches were set up and new paths were laid out, of which around 1,5 kilometers are asphalted. They are particularly popular with skaters. In the rear part, by the old shooting range, there is a climbing facility and a 330-meter-long, quite challenging mountain bike route. A 1,7-hectare gravel lawn area serves as a festival site. Circus performances or the traditional (VW) Beetle meeting take place here twice a year.
Döbeln’s main cycle route, the Mulderadweg, also touches the area.
The children's playground with cable car, balance beam, suspension bridge, swings, crawl tunnel, rubber slide and much more is particularly popular.

The park can be reached via Heinrich-Heine-Straße or Friedrichstraße, among others. There are also sufficient parking spaces available there.
