With the KletterTurm in Mockau, Leipzig now has a climbing facility that is unique in Europe and houses both an outdoor and indoor climbing wall.
The old water tower, located in the northeastern district of Leipzig-Mockau, is now one of Europe's most exciting climbing facilities. The tower, which was taken out of service in 1977, was renovated from 2001 to 2004 and converted into a climbing facility. Since opening, it has let climbers clamber on and over a total of three levels. There are courses on both the outer facade and inside the tower. The exterior courses range up to a height of 40 metres, while the indoor ones go up to 30.5 metres. Beginner climbers can choose between introductory and beginner courses, while a cosy restaurant takes care of hungry stomachs.
