Visible from afar, the 7-metre-high double-towered, St. Aegidien-Church dominates the town of Oschatz. The tower watchman used to live in the church's southern tower with his family. The historic tower living quarters, which visitors are welcome to visit, can be reached by climbing 199 steps. The climb is rewarded with a 'Schälchen Heeßen' (a hot coffee) and a fascinating view over the city and the countryside surrounding Oschatz.
