The church was built in 1717 by David Schatz in high baroque style. The portico pulpit altar, baptismal font and two Partonth boxes are also from this period. There are two Baroque portraits of particular value in this collection: A relief with the profile of a bust of Count Ernst Christoph von Manteuffel (1676-1749) and a marble bust showing an unknown, nobly-dressed man. It belongs to the church's outstanding collection of art. It also has significant epitaphs and tombs.
The chapel is a rectangular, flat-roofed nave with a three-sided east-facing entrance. The organ façade was built in late Baroque style in 1800. At the beginning of the 20th century the church was enlarged and was given a new tower based on plans by Julius Zeisig. The Jehmlich organ was installed in 1979 It was originally from the Magdeborn church, which fell victim to brown coal mining.
