The Mende organ is documented as the third organ in this church and emerged around the same time as the organ of the St. Pauli Church in Leipzig.
Johan Gottlob Mende (1787 - 1850) founded his own workshop in Leipzig in 1820. From 1821 - 1848, he was the last University organ maker in Leipzig. In 1840 -41, he built the organ for Podelwitz. The Mende organ is documented as the third organ in this church and emerged around the same time as the organ of the St. Pauli Church in Leipzig. II/22 In 1888 - 1903 and 1912, repairs and restructuring took place. In 1917, the pewter front display pipes were requisitioned and upgraded and in 1927, were replaced by zinc pipes. Between 1977 - 1993 and 2011 (Hermann Eule Orgelbau), extensive restoration and reconstruction works were carried out.
