Taucha observation tower - Sights in the Leipzig region

The city park in Taucha, the former König-Albert-Park, is an oasis for relaxation with various sights.

As early as 1905, the Taucha town council decided to build an observation tower in the "König-Albert-Park" (now the town park). It took a few more years before it was officially opened in May 1913 - as the "crowning glory" of the park at a height of 143 m.

Despite the renovation work carried out over the decades, the tower was in a poor condition at the beginning of the 1990s. Extensive construction work was therefore carried out, particularly in 1994 and 1995, to restore the lookout tower to its former glory. It was reopened in September 1995 as part of the 825th anniversary celebrations of the town of Taucha.

The tower is 22 m high and there are 99 steps to climb before you can enjoy the view over the surrounding area.
