The simple, elongated village church of St. Marien sits on a hill. It was inaugurated in 1198 and bears witness to the eventful history of the area. A beautiful old carved altar can be admired in the church. The Benedictine nunnery Marienpforte developed in the village until about 1225. The nuns were well known for their healing skills, nursing care and welfare for the poor. Anna von Miltitz was the nunnery's last abbess. Her tombstone, on which she can be seen in life-size form, was placed inside the church. Beautiful hand-carved figures on the altar and a life-size depiction of the crucifixion can be seen in the church.
