St. Thomas Church
Thomaskirche is Bach's final resting place and is considered an important center of classical music - far beyond the borders of Germany.
A special highlight are the weekly motets, always on Fridays at 6 p.m. (in the liturgical form of vespers, lasting approx. 1 hour) and Saturdays at 3 p.m. (usually with a performance of a cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach). The motets are usually performed by the Thomanerchor Leipzig; in their absence, guest ensembles or guest organists replace the choir. The admission program for the motet can be purchased 45 minutes before the start at the entrances to St. Thomas Church. Advance ticket sales are not possible.
