Stadt- und Waagenmuseum Oschatz

Short facts

Permanent exhibition on the history of the town and peasant life, the only museum of scales in central Germany, accessible watchtower with viewing platform.

In the historic buildings of the town council and administrative stronghold, which adjoin directly to the well-preserved old town wall, you will find the Oschatz town and scales museum. In the lovingly restored complex, city history can be experienced up close. The scales exhibition, which is unique in Central Germany, consists of more than 100 exhibits that vividly depict the development of the manufacture of scales, from its beginnings through to the most modern electronic weighing systems. Of course, every visitor can determine their own "weightiness" here. The Zwingergarten is a good place to relax. The climb to the top of the city watch tower, dating back to 1377, is a very special experience.
