The Westflügel Leipzig is not only an attractive venue for the district. As a place of unique charm and with its diverse program, the Westflügel is also a popular destination for ensembles touring around the world. The theater has been working with a network of artists from Europe and beyond for many years, is part of international co-productions and acts as a think tank for the entire puppet theater scene (awarded the Federal Theater Prize in 2015).
The listed Art Nouveau building, built in 1900 by the architect Emil Franz Hänsel, is now owned by the Lindenfels Westflügel eV. In addition to its venue, the original ballroom, which is over eight meters high, it has a theater restaurant, the (cultural) bar froelich & herrlich. The Kunstautomat is also the smallest gallery in Leipzig with a regular exhibition program.
