The Wiedemar community is located in the westernmost tip of the district of North Saxony on the border with Saxony-Anhalt.
The Wiedemar community is located in the westernmost tip of the district of North Saxony on the border with Saxony-Anhalt. Halle (Saale) is about 17 km to the west, and Delitzsch 13 km to the north east of the eponymous Wiedemar district. The Wiedemar community, which spans 93.52 km² and has 17 villages, is characterized by the large, flat fields of the Leipzig lowland bay. Its proximity to Leipzig makes the community and ideal starting point for city tours and trips through the beautiful natural landscape.
A small mining lake, Lake Zwochau, can be found at the eastern edge of the Zwochau district. Right next to it is the Lake Grabschützer nature reserve. Both lakes offer a variety of sporting activities. In addition, a beautifully landscaped 8 km nature trail was installed around Lake Grabschützer. Many natural monuments, mills, half timbered houses, and churches round out a visit in rural tranquility.
