Napoleon spent the night in today's museum on the eve of the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig (8 to 9 October 1813), followed the next day by the Saxon King Friedrich August I. Weapons, flags and uniforms bear witness to the warlike period. General Ferdinand von Funck was an important figure in this warlike period: he was a negotiator between Napoleon and the Saxon King Frederick Augustus I and a diplomat in the conclusion of Saxony's neutrality treaty.
