Altranstädt Castle was created around 1200 as a monastery by Cistercian monks. The three-winged complex was built at the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th century. It has had several owners, most recently the family von Hohenthal (until 1945).

On 24 September 1706, the "Old Town Peace" between the Swedish King Charles XII and the Saxon elector Augustus was declared a part of European history in the Altranstädt Castle. Today, the largely original furnished "Friedenszimmer" (peace room) in the castle testifies to this event. It also recalls the "Altranstädter Konvention" a year later. Today, Altranstädt is one of the most historically interesting places in Saxony.

There are also plans for the future, such as the establishment of a Swedish-Polish-German meeting place. The "Förderverein Schloss Altranstädt", which always looks forward to entertaining interested parties, is committed to this event and to the gradual renovation of the buildings.

Some rooms and the vaulted room on the ground floor of the castle can be used for all kinds of celebrations and parties, events and seminars.
