Exhibits from Saxony's gymnastics and sports history
Under the motto "Tears and Triumphs", one of the branch offices of the Leipzig Museum of City History displays 80,000 exhibits from 150 years of gymnastics and sports history in Saxony. Among the gems are a long bar from 1870 and the world's first hollow rudder (1895).
The museum's collections are complemented by a specialist library containing around 4,000 volumes. Thematically, the exhibition includes the bourgeois sports movement, sports disciplines, clubs and associations, and the Olympic movement.
