Christmas in the Leipzig Region

Advent Atmosphere in the Region

Getting in the right spirit for the festival

The Leipzig region attracts visitors at the beginning of the contemplative season, with pre-Christmas offers in historic walls as well as with Advent concerts and traditional Advent and Christmas markets. All events promise a magical experience in a unique atmosphere.

We wish you a contemplative Advent season and a merry Christmas!

The popular Leipzig Christmas Market will take place from 27 November to 23 December 2018 in various market areas in the city centre. Its tradition dates back to 1458. This makes it Germany's second oldest Christmas market. With almost 300 uniquely decorated booths, it lives up to its reputation as one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany.

Pre-Christmas season in castles, palaces and monasteries

A visit to the castles, fortresses and monasteries of the Leipzig region is always worthwhile - especially in the pre-Christmas period. The already impressive historical walls are transformed into places full of magic and splendour.
