Activity and nature in the Leipzig Region
Discover the most beautiful routes for hiking and cycling
Whether you want to go on extensive hikes or take your bike on exciting tours - the Leipzig region offers you plenty of opportunities.
The beaver tour on the Düben Heath is simply a must for nature-loving hikers. The 30-kilometre multiple award-winning hiking trail runs from Bad Düben to Bad Schmiedeberg through a landscape of virtually untouched flora and fauna.
The Elbe cycle route at Belgern promises to be an eventful trip, as does the Mulde cycle route from Döbeln to Löbnitz (challenging in places). The best way to explore the well-marked network of cycle paths and hiking trails is to cycle or hike without luggage.
Ecological stations and educational forest centres throughout the Leipzig Region provide a vivid picture of the relationship between people and the forest. A special experience for young and old alike is to take a forest walk with a ranger or to attend "Wild Animal Sunday", during which visitors can explore the natural habitats of the beaver or crane.
