By bicycle - Cycling in the Leipzig Region

Cycling in the Leipzig Region

Enjoy cycling tours in the Leipzig region and experiencepure history in the truest sense of the word. Why? The area around Leipzig has the highest density of castles, palaces and parks in Saxony.

One of the most well-known cycling paths is the Mulderadweg. Start your bike tour in the famous boot town of Döbeln and experience typical floodplains and wetlands with their unique flora and fauna along the Freiberg and the "Vereinigte Mulde". Lovingly reconstructed sites along the course of the river provide an insight into Saxony's impressive cultural history. The cycle path takes you past Buch Monastery, a 12th century monastery complex. Its impressive location on steep cliffs above the shores of the Mulde today serves as a faint reminder of the importance of the former imperial castle.

The ride from the most beautiful historical town centre in Central Germany in Grimma to Germany's oldest castle in Wurzen takes less than two hours by bicycle. The path continues along the Mulde River, winding around Eilenburg to the spa town of Bad Düben. Exhausted cyclists can find peace and relaxation here, for example, with a soothing natural moor mud bath.

In addition to the Mulde cycle path, the Leipzig region offers you many other cycle paths - enjoy discovering and, above all, "experiencing" them.
