Zoos and Wildlife Parks

Intensive animal experiences are to be had at the lovingly created little animal gardens and at Leipzig Zoo  with its Gondwanaland tropical hall, Himalayan high mountain landscape and new South America feature. We recommend you plan to spend the whole day here as there is so much to see! You can also visit your animal friends in the beautiful Eilenburg wildlife park and  at Delitzsch animal park! Somewhat smaller but also excellent venues to see animals are the O-Schatz Park in Oschatz and the Dornreichenbach animal enclosure in Lossatal. At this last animal park, you will even get to see rare breeds such as Costa Rica squirrels and Jacob sheep as well as the largest meerkat enclosure in Saxony. In some of the zoological areas, you are allowed to stroke and feed the animals.

Bathing lakes and fun in the water

When summer calls, Leipzig locals are drawn to the lakes. The New Lake District is one of the largest contiguous lake areas in Europe and boasts fantastic water quality as well as countless activities both in and by the water. Stand-up paddling, wakeboarding, scuba diving and swimming are part of Leipzig's culture. Grab your swimsuit and explore Leipzig's beautiful water side. If you'd rather cool down with the kids under the watchful eye of a lifeguard, you might also come to one of the natural or outdoor swimming pools.

Even in bad weather or during the colder months of the year, little water lovers never have to stay dry. The family-friendly swimming and leisure pools in Leipzig and the surrounding  region look forward to welcoming visitors of all ages.
