Wachberg Observation Tower in Waldheim

Observation tower with panoramic views

Wachberg Waldheim Observation Tower ©Petra Blumberg

The 264 m high serpentine tower, a climbable victory monument in memory of the 1871 German-French war, can be seen from far and wide. From the viewing platform at approx. 20 m high, visitors have a grand panoramic view of the city, its wooded heights, and the horizon. In clear conditions, you can even see the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) and the Monument to the Battle of Nations in Leipzig. You also have a spectacular view of the steel bridge with the Heiligenborn Viaduct behind it. Large parts of the construction of the observation tower were carried out by the Waldheim Society for Beautification, which also built the trail and the stairway, and undertook the reforestation of the mountain.

The key to the tower can be picked up in the neighbouring garden pub "Lindeneck".
