Relaxing or action-packed - it's up to you!
Lake Cospuden, situated on the outskirts of the cities of Leipzig, Markkleeberg and Zwenkau, is dubbed "Cossi" by locals. It historic transformation from a lignite mining site to a lively leisure oasis exemplifies the region's development.
On the Zöbigk harbour with its Scandinavian feel, a varied range of water sports and related shops, restaurants, a sauna, as well as bicycle and boat rental can be found. From here, you can embark on a leisurely tour around the lake on a passenger ship. The dune-filled sandy beach on the northern shore, renowned as the longest sandy beach in Saxony, offers more than a dip alone.
The observation tower Bistumshöhe provides visitors with a fascinating view over the forest area of the "Neue Harth" and of the nearby leisure park, BELANTIS. Canoeists can paddle from the body of water 1 in the city harbour, located in the heart of Leipzig, through the Cospuden sluice, to Lake Cospuden.
