Active around the lake
With its crystal clear water, Lake Markkleeberg is an inviting spot both for relaxation and swimming. The paved, circular path makes the lake attractive to hikers, cyclists and inline skaters. A popular day-trip destination at the lake is to Markkleeberg Canoe park, which is located there - Germany's unique attraction for white water fun.
Hikers, cyclists and inline skaters can circle Lake Markkleeberg or extend their tour to the neighbouring lake, Lake Störmthal. Sailing, surfing, diving and climbing are popular during the summer season. Waterborne visitors can reach the neighbouring lake through a sluice. Those who would rather take it easy can explore the lake on a passenger ship or do a few laps on the garden railway in the miniature park.
Next to a campground, a family-friendly holiday complex, directly on the lakeside, can also be found, with comfortably-furnished apartments and holiday homes, as well as a restaurant, and a spa and sauna facility.
