The Belgern City Museum is housed in one of the oldest properties in the city, in the old smithy at Topfmarkt 7. In the main room on the ground floor, visitors are greeted by a veritable flood of historical information about Belgern. The importance of the Elbe for the development of the city, as well as crafts, agriculture, brewing, winemaking and markets, as well as the jurisdiction and significant coin finds in the area are illustrated here. Particularly worth seeing are a beer sign from 1783, which signaled that beer was being served on a property with brewing rights, the district court crucifix, donated by Mayor Kaulisch in 1681 and used in the city court and later the district court until 1935, and the chest of the Döhnerwiesen Society from the middle of the 18th century. The original writing and coat of arms from the post mile post can also be seen.
