The 20-meter-high observation tower was built on the 148,5-meter-high Wachtelberg in the “Wachtelberg- Mühlbachtal” nature reserve.
The 20-meter-high observation tower was built in 1908 on the 148,5-meter-high Wachtelberg in the “Wachtelberg-Mühlbachtal” nature reserve, inaugurated on April 1, 1909, and on clear days offers a panoramic view of up to 40 kilometers over the beautiful Mulde valley from the observation platform. Inside the tower, visitors can view an exhibition on its 100-year history and the flora of the “Mittlere Mulde” landscape conservation area. Guided tours of the nature reserve are available through the GeoRanger of the Geopark Porphyrland.

Arrival & Parking

By public transport: From Leipzig Central Station take the RE50 or S3 to Wurzen. In Wurzen change to bus line B to Dehnitz, Osterblumenweg. The destination is about 150 m away on foot.

By car: Take the B6 to Bahnhofstraße in Wurzen. Take Dehnitzer Weg and Am Wachtelberg to Osterblumenweg.
