It is an important example of classical modern church architecture. The reinforced concrete skeleton structure was deliberately designed to be modern. The architect placed particular emphasis on the verticality of the edges and wall openings and thus discovered a modern interpretation of Gothic church buildings.
The entrance area of the church is characterized by a concrete cross window and colored glass filling, making it the main feature of the building. The interior of the church is decorated with a strikingly clearly structured and modest interior, typical of the Bauhaus, which is complemented by works of art. The current landmark of Neu-Gohlis is the white, towering, 39-meter-high bell tower. Due to the conditions of the building site, the usual eastward orientation of the choir was not used when building the church. The church therefore extends in a south-north direction. The Church of Reconciliation is located in the immediate vicinity of the Krochsiedlung, which was designed in a similar way.
