You can experience a nostalgic ride on the faithfully restored horse-drawn tram on an approximately 1 km long rail line in the city center.

The old Döbeln horse-drawn tram operated as a means of local public transport from 1892 to 1926 on a 2,5 km long route from the main station to the city center. Since June 2007, you can experience the nostalgic feeling of the past on the faithfully restored Döbeln horse-drawn tram, which is unique in Germany, on a 1 km long track in Döbeln's city center.

The horse-drawn tram is the origin of all of today's local transport. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, there were over 90 horse-drawn trams in Germany and as many as 1.700 worldwide. However, a comprehensive museum appreciation has not yet been given to them. In some tram museums, the subject of horse-drawn trams is dealt with, but usually only marginally and limited to local circumstances. A museum has been set up in Döbeln in which images and exhibits are shown solely on the subject of horse-drawn trams. The eventful and sometimes curious history of horse-drawn trams in Döbeln, Germany and the world is presented on 50 display boards.
