Allotment gardens have become an indispensable part of German cities as small, private recreational areas for their owners.
The allotment garden movement has a varied history spanning over 200 years, which originated in Leipzig and is documented in a unique way in the exhibition at the German Allotment Garden Museum. The permanent exhibition offers an overview of this interesting and exciting development and, starting from the beginnings of the various lines of origin, illuminates the development of the allotment garden movement up to the present day. In the listed garden complex, three show gardens illustrate the development of small gardens. Guided tours for groups of 20 or more are possible at any time by prior arrangement.
