The Gewandhaus in Leipzig is a partner of the Leipzig Card/Leipzig Regio Card.

The Gewandhaus is located on Augustusplatz opposite the Leipzig Opera and is home to the famous Leipzig Gewandhausorchesters.

The Gewandhaus in Leipzig hosts around 800 events a year. Gewandhausorchester his symphony concerts in the Great Hall, while the Gewandhaus chamber music is presented in the somewhat smaller Mendelssohn Hall.

Concerts by well-known music stars are held regularly and it is a popular location for lectures and conferences. The large hall has a total capacity of 1.900 visitors and is home to the majestic Schuke organ. The Gewandhaus is also part of the Leipzig Music Trail and the Leipzig Music Wheel, as well as the venue for the annual Laughter Fair.

Opening hours

The Gewandhaus box office is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. In addition, the box office is always open one hour before the start of a concert.

Arrival & Parking

By public transport: The nearest stop is Leipzig, Augustusplatz (tram lines 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 51, 56, N10, N17 and bus lines N8, N9). Other stops in the immediate vicinity: Leipzig Markt, Leipzig Hauptbahnhof.

By car: Use of the surrounding parking garages in the city center, such as Q-Park Augustusplatz, Q-Park The Post and Parkhaus Gutenberg-Galerie.

All concert tickets for in-house events (except print@home tickets) as well as all Gewandhaus season tickets are valid as travel tickets on the Leipzig public transport network and in MDV zone 3 and an adjacent zone (110, 151, 156, 162, 164) for 168 hours before and after the concert.
