Located in the middle of a beautiful floodplain landscape, Groitzsch looks back on a history that goes back almost 1.000 years. Groitzsch has developed into a modern small town that has a number of special features to offer. With the Wiprechtsburg, Groitzsch has a place rich in history and culture, which, with its open-air stage integrated into the castle ruins, attracts many thousands of visitors with various events, especially in the summer months.
The 3D cinema with daily film screenings, the "AZUR" fitness and wellness center with indoor pool and the "Stadtmühle" clubhouse invite you to visit. In the Großstolpen district, a bathing lake with a snack bar, barbecue and volleyball court as well as a large playground has been established, which invites sun-seekers to relax. From here it is also not far to the Neuer Geyersberg lookout point.
