In 1999, the Evangelical Lutheran parishes of Hohnstädt and Beiersdorf merged to form the Hohenstädt-Beiersdorf parish and formed a sister church relationship with the parishes of Grimma, Nerchau and Döben-Höfgen.
The chancel of the church dates from the 12th century, the nave is medieval. An extension was built in 1857/58. In this context, Urban Kreutzbach from Borna built a two-manual organ in 1858, which was completely restored in 1993 by the Wünnig company from Großolbersdorf. Belonging to the Grimma parish, the organ regularly plays sophisticated programs.
