When it was founded in 1927, Leipzig/Halle Airport was one of the largest airports in Germany. AP Brunnert and Partner were responsible for the master plan and architecture. The central terminal, which was built within four years, connects the ICE-compatible long-distance train station with local public transport, a check-in area, a parking garage and a shopping arcade under one roof and, due to its intermodal character, guarantees both the best accessibility and enormous growth potential.
Since 1990, the airport has been expanded into one of the most modern airports in Europe. Numerous investments now guarantee the best possible connections to the road network of Leipzig, the region and all of Central Germany. The airport also offers space for events of all kinds.
Behind the scenes, a tour of the entire airport grounds is provided in the podcast "Welcome to Leipzig". It's worth listening for exciting insider information!
