Mendelssohn House Leipzig
The advantages are described under "Good to know/Pricing information".
The Mendelssohn House is the only remaining residence of the composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, who died in Leipzig in 1847. Today it serves as a music salon and is also the world's only Mendelssohn Museum. Visitors ascend the original historic staircase to Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's apartment, which has been restored to its original layout, just as it was during the artist's lifetime. The composer's study, where works such as the oratorio Elijah were created, the magnificent music salon, frequented by numerous prominent figures like Richard Wagner, Robert and Clara Schumann, and Hans Christian Andersen, and where a concert is held every Sunday, the family's furniture, letters and musical scores, watercolors by Mendelssohn himself, and extensive information about the artist's life and work make this authentic place an unforgettable experience. Audio guides in German, German for children, and Easy German allow visitors to delve even deeper into Mendelssohn's world.
The museum in the Mendelssohn House also offers various activities for children, including many small events in the coach house of the Mendelssohn House during the summer and winter holidays, as well as museum education programs for kindergarten groups and school classes.
More about the Mendelssohn House and the musician and composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy can be found in the podcast "Welcome to Leipzig" can be heard again.
