Mildenstein Castle – Imperial Castle and Nursery

Salian kings, Staufers, Wettins: Mildenstein Castle is one of the oldest castles in Saxony. Behind the meter-thick walls, the Wettins built a notorious prison. To this day, visitors shudder at the sight of the multi-lockable doors and bizarre torture instruments. The wooden construction of the Gothic granary floor, the keep, the Romanesque castle chapel and the medieval knights' halls are particularly impressive. "Frieder Berg", the witty keep, tells of his adventures. The exhibition "The Court of the Young Rulers - Mildenstein Castle as an Electoral Nursery" complements the family-friendly offering in Central Saxony. Events take place in a unique ambience in the "Black Kitchen" and the "Prince's Room".

The interactive treasure hunt with escape room

A unique adventure awaits you on the interactive treasure hunt! Equipped with a tablet and a team of two to eight friends or family members, a 90 to 120-minute scavenger hunt begins across the entire castle grounds, leading to a secret escape room. Here you can prove your talent for solving puzzles: whoever solves all the puzzles within 20 minutes will find the "Treasure of the One-Eyed Man".

In the interactive multimedia tour of the app "Experience the Castle Country"You can discover the everyday life of the prince's children in the castle together with Hedwig of Saxony. In a mini-game, children can learn more about how fire was made in the past.

The Schlösserland app also guarantees a special excursion experience, with personalized tips, 360° tours and much more - for your perfect day at Mildenstein Castle. The app is available free of charge in Apple App Store or by Google Playstore ready for download.

Numerous events, such as concerts, guided tours for young and old and the "Holiday fun for royal children" invite you to family-friendly discovery tours within the castle walls. More information is available at podcast "Welcome to Leipzig" ready.
