Reclam Museum
Since October 24.10.2018, 50, the Reclam Museum in Leipzig's Graphic Quarter has been inviting all lovers and readers of the traditional Reclam booklets to come and visit. Museum director Hans-Jochen Marquardt has put together an impressive collection of books on around 12 square meters in the basement of Kreuzstrasse 1961. There are rarities as well as some of the first publications from Reclam's Universal Library. Curiosities from the Reclam house, special series and valuable autographs by Thomas Mann and Herman Hesse can also be viewed. The museum director's private collection was partly put together by traveling to Prague, Budapest and Namibia, among others. Marquardt's passion for collecting also goes back to the fact that his father, Hans Marquardt, was head of the Reclam publishing house in the GDR from 1987 to XNUMX. The permanent exhibition thus also reflects the history of the publishing house and its division.
