Monument
Near the music pavilion in Clara Zetkin Park, a square and memorial stone commemorate the composer Richard Strauss and his time in Leipzig.
Richard Strauss Square is located in Leipzig's Clara Zetkin Park, south of the music pavilion. During Strauss's lifetime, the square was named after him on the occasion of his 60th birthday in 1925 and a memorial stone was erected.

A year later, a whole series of performances was dedicated to the composer as part of the Richard Strauss Week. Numerous events took place in the opera and the Gewandhaus. Between 1887 and 1934, Richard Strauss worked in Leipzig on several occasions and, among other things, directed performances of his own works in what was then the Second Gewandhaus.
