The former manor of Kleinzschocher is particularly remembered for the premiere of the Peasant Cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The Kleinzschocher manor is located in the southwest of Leipzig. Today, the Schösserhaus, the Villa Tauchnitz and the gate entrance are all that remain of the historic building. The popular peasant cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach was premiered in the historic building of the former Schösserhaus on August 30, 1742. Also known as Cantate Burlesque, it was performed on the occasion of the 36th birthday of the manor lord Carl Heinrich von Dieskau (Elector of Saxony's chamberlain).

The text of the piece was written by Christian Friedrich Henrici, known as Picander, and contains some splendid pieces of Saxon dialect. A story is told in a folksy, slightly ironic melody, which is presented in a simply designed piece of music with short sentences and predominantly simple accompaniment. The commissioned composition was premiered under Bach's personal direction on the Kleinzschocher estate. The remaining historical buildings are now being restored by the Leipzig housing association as part of the renovation work. In addition, family homes and architecturally high-quality town villas are being built on the three-hectare site.
