The Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig was founded in 1846 as the Royal Saxon Society of Sciences and to this day continues the tradition of the academy idea coined by Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, of closely linking theory and practice ("theoria cum praxi"). More than 200 scientists from various disciplines conduct research here. The academy opens its doors for regular events and for the Long Night of Science.
