The exhibition "Titanic: An Immersive Journey" makes the story of the RMS Titanic accessible in a unique way through a novel exhibition concept. The focus is not only on the sinking of the ocean liner in April 1912, but also on its significance as a technical and social symbol of its time. With around 300 artifacts, which come from the Titanic, her sister ships Olympic and Britannic as well as from the rescue and escort ships Carpathia and Californian, the exhibition offers a comprehensive insight into the era of transatlantic travel.
Innovative spatial concepts and multimedia productions, including 360-degree projections and original reconstructions of ship areas, allow for a multi-sensory experience of the ship and life on board. The exhibition combines historical objects with digital experience formats, including a concluding, optional Virtual reality excursion to the wreck of the Titanic as well as through selected ship areas.
The Titanic exhibition was created in close cooperation with the German Titanic Association of 1997, which is dedicated to the scientific study of the ship's history. In addition to a detailed presentation of the shipwreck and its cultural legacy, the exhibition also explores the fates of individual passengers and important circumstances surrounding and behind the disaster. The exhibition's location in Leipzig follows successful stops in Hamburg, Milan, and Atlanta and presents history through a combination of authenticity, technology, and in-depth knowledge transfer.
